William Francis Lee III (born December 28, 1946), nicknamed "Spaceman", is an American former professional baseball left-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox (1969–1978) and Montreal Expos (1979–1982).

Dec 27, 2023 · After breaking into the Majors as a 22-year-old with the Red Sox in 1969, he became a trusted reliever for the team over the next four seasons. But Lee -- armed with a sinker, overhand curve, screwball, slider and four-seam fastball -- got his first brush with stardom in 1973.

The Indians led 6-3 after three full innings. Lee pitched the fourth through the seventh innings, giving up just one run on two hits before being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh. After 19 relief stints, Lee earned a start late in the season, on September 30.
