Benini was born in 1941 in Imola, in the Emilia Romagna region. Paintings and watercolors from the 1950’s illustrate landscapes and still lifes in a traditional style. After leaving his parents' home in his teens, he survived primarily as an itinerant painter, painting small watercolors and oils using his bicycle as an easel.

The Geometrics — Benini
Benini first painted the geometric series in the late 1980's, precisely following a trip to Virginia, and a special meeting with Robert Monroe, at the Monroe Institute in Faber, Virginia where Monroe invited Benini into his Hemi-sync laboratory and its consciousness enhancements.
ROSES: 1980-1987 — Benini
Benini painted Roses for more than 20 years. In the 70's, this symbol was rendered huge, full-frame with bright colors. His Superroses of this time were exhibited often with his large nudes.
The Roses — Benini
When Benini started painting roses in the 70's, in Freeport, Grand Bahama, they were four to eight feet wide, monochromatic, full face roses that were exhibited in the United States , Canada, the Bahamas and Europe.
