We did the guided house and grounds tour, which was extremely interesting, that is about 1 hour. We found the museum to be even more informative and interesting and spent at least 2.5 hours, and could have spent more. However, the museum time will be determined by personal interest.

Your ticket is good for two days. You can easily spend both days in their entirety. The house tour is timed, and lasts maybe two hours. But the library and museum have days worth of material to read and observe. Plus there are other sights in Hyde Park connected with the Roosevelts if you have the time and inclination. there is Top Cottage (Franklin's retreat) and Val-Kill (Eleanor's retreat) available for guided tours as well.

Take MetroNorth from Gran Central to Poughkeepsie— there you can 1. take a bus to FDR Library and Museum, The Culinary Institute, ValKill, and Vanderbilt Mansion. There is a nice beautiful hiking trail from FDR Museum to Vanderbilt Mansion. 2. Uber to FDR museum (about $10) 3. Pick up a zip car right at the Poughkeepsie station. The MetroNorth website has a special page Called Ride2Drive Go to the metronorth webpage & look for Getaways and Ride2Drive (it won’t let me post the link) Let me know if you go! There’s a Family Fun Festival this Saturday June 29 and admission to the FDR Museum is free!
