Kīlauea (US: / ˌkɪləˈweɪə / ⓘ KIL-ə-WAY-ə, Hawaiian: [kiːlɐwˈwɛjə]) is an active shield volcano in the Hawaiian Islands. It is located along the southeastern shore of Hawaii Island. The volcano is between 210,000 and 280,000 years old and grew above sea level about 100,000 years ago.

The Kīlauea summit eruption within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park remains paused. Given current rates of reinflation, a new episode is expected soon, either today or tomorrow, with today still as the most likely start time. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory will publish a status update if/when eruption restarts.
