Sat, May 7, 1994 Strange images begin appearing throughout the ship's decks and holodecks. Data and the rest of the crew begin to investigate only to discover that the ship's computer itself is exhibiting the strange behavior as it begins to become self-aware.

One of my big pet peeves about TV series is the lack of story diversity and I never felt that about Star Trek, this episode is a perfect example. Even as a child I understood that special effects in TV series was laughable (movies not much better), but I still dream of traveling the stars.

Voyager slips into a pocket of subspace where many other ships are trapped and must steal from each other to survive. Only with the help of other star ships can they all escape the void.

The Galileo Seven: Directed by Robert Gist. With William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Don Marshall, DeForest Kelley. The Galileo, under Spock's command, crash-lands on a hostile planet. As the Enterprise races against time to find the shuttlecraft, Spock's strictly logical leadership clashes with the fear and resentment of his crew.

One scene involving Chekov is particularly dark for Star Trek. Not all of it holds up to a modern viewing. There are some quite silly moments involving swords and some of the acting from William Shatner and Deforest Kelley strays over the top.

Searching to replenish their dilithium supplies, Voyager encounters the Vidiians who assault other races for their organs. Neelix is attacked and his lungs taken.

Assignment: Earth: Directed by Marc Daniels. With William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Robert Lansing. While back in time observing Earth in 1968, the Enterprise crew encounters the mysterious Gary Seven who has his own agenda on the planet.

It had more energy than a lot of the other episodes, but again the actual plot acts only as a backdrop for the interpersonal conflicts, which is the emphasis in Star Trek the Next Generation. The episode explores ignorance on a number of levels, and self worth.

7 /10 Satisfyingly dramatic story, interesting ideas, but light on logic The Enterprise is seeking information on the disappearance of the USS Valiant near a planet with advanced technology but little outside contact.
