Its approach uses SAP HANA system for storage and computational capabilities to carry out operations related to the data and database objects of other systems.

The sidecar system is closely connected to the ABAP-based backend system, so the application and the underlying SAP NetWeaver versions of both systems are synchronized and fully updated.

Extracted data is not loaded into the connected SAP BW system; instead the data flow is redirected to the SAP HANA system. The following graphic depicts the basic “sidecar” approach. A similar variation is available to customers running “SAP BW Powered by SAP HANA ” (also called BW on SAP HANA ).
