Gudrun (pronounced GUD-run in English, GWUTH-roon in Icelandic) was an approximately 20-year-old female Icelandic killer whale who lived at SeaWorld Orlando. Gudrun was captured on November 11th, 1976 from Ingólfshöfði, Iceland at less than 1 year old.

Aug 19, 2016 · Gudrun and Taima. The story of the Dutch Killer whale Gudrun, is a sad and twisted one. Starting with how she got her name: She was actually named after the whaling vessel which caught her. I actually saw Gudrun when she was still in Harderwijk in the Mid eighties.

The bull Orca had to be replaced in order for SeaWorld's breeding program to survive. They wasted no time in purchasing a male killer whale from a small, dying Canadian marine park. This whale had a dark past that SeaWorld would keep hidden from their own trainers.

Gudrun was a female orca who was captured in Iceland in 1976 and lived in captivity at Seaworld Orlando. On October 25, 1976, two young female orcas were captured in Medallands Bugt, Iceland. They were later named Gudrun and Kenau, and were transferred to Dolphinarium Harderwijk in the Netherlands.

Aug 16, 2013 · Gudrun was unique as her dorsal fin was remarkably straight. For reference, 100% of captive male orcas have collapsed fins, and most of the adult females. Her straight dorsal fin made her an ideal animal for photo opportunities (good PR).

Gudrun fue una madre excelente para Taima y tenía muy buenos instintos maternales. Su buen comportamiento fue un alivio para SeaWorld pues a pesar de no haber observado y aprendido de otras orcas a como cuidar de un bebé, se las apañó muy bien con Taima.
