Nov 8, 2016 · The weather does look good for the foreseeable future. I've only hunted 1st and 2nd season down there and saw plenty of elk 1st season and not a lot of pressure. 2nd season was a different story - lots of hunters and not so many elk. My thinking is that they push over the ridge into the next unit once pressure increases.

Mar 3, 2020 · Elk hunting in most of Colorado is good as we have decent densities, but you will be seeing people, and you most likely will be taking a 5x5 or smaller CO manages for opportunity not trophy, so that means tons of 2.5 year old bulls and not a lot of bigger bulls. Personally I think the best bang for your buck is going to be with a drop camp.

Feb 8, 2016 · I have successfully mule deer and turkey hunted the unit before but haven't come across elk on the forest. I typically camp in a designated campground on the forest when deer hunting this unit in the past. Hopefully for 2018 would hunt the unit with an Elk permit, General Deer, and if lucky and Elk B license.
