I recommend going online and getting quotes from every online service that buys cars in your city. It can’t hurt, and you may find the offer and process better than CarMax.

Routine maintenance is not going to change a carmax offer and the advice I give people if if you're going to sell your car to carmax just take it as is, don't wash it, don't replace tires, don't get it deep cleaned. As for your offer, unless your vehicle was incorrectly trimmed or packaged you will not see a change in price.

Jun 14, 2021 · I just did an online carmax offer to sell my car, and they undercut Edmunds used car appraisal, which they show on the same screen as the offer, by about $5000. I'm very surprised given how hot used car market is these days, and also, I've pretty much always understood carmax to pay Edmunds Used Car appraisal amount (or pretty close to it).

Someone checked out my car, and then the offer matched the online quote. No haggling, you just sign paperwork and you receive a check. Highly recommend this vs trading in a car to a dealer.

Jul 10, 2022 · If they are close enough to you, I’d take it to Carmax in person first, this way you get a first and final from them. But, then I’d take it to a Honda dealer because they are all hurting for inventory. I did this with my 2017 Lexus GX460. Lexus actually offered me $1600 more than Carmax, it was in immaculate condition. Good luck!

Received online offer of $10k through the app for my 2020 Hyundai Elantra with 80k miles. I drove 3 hours to the nearest location, they then gave me a written offer of $8500, claiming nicks and scrapes that were already disclosed previously. I went to Hyundai, the next store over and was written a 10k check. Fuck carmax

When you go to redeem your appraisal, you have to enter the code of the offer you’re interested in. Trust me, I had about a dozen active offers and they still accepted the highest one.
