Bulgan aimag is a curious mixture: the south is dry grassland and the north is green and has enough forest to support a small timber industry; scattered in between are about 50,000 hectares of wheat and vegetable crops - Mongolia's agricultural heartland. Flora and Fauna Soil is sandy with semi-desert features in the South of the aimag.

The Bulgan aimag Museum on the main street has some information on obscure sights in the aimag; a display on J Gurragchaa (Mongolia’s first man in space), war photos and a few musical instruments, including the ol' human-femur-cum-wind-instrument (known as a kangling or ganlin).

Orkhon is a sum (district) of Bulgan Province in northern Mongolia. Orkhon soum was established in 1959. It is 22 km from the aimag center, 296 km from the capital, located in forest steppe, and one third of the country is covered with greenish and coniferous forests.

Bulgan is a sum (district) of Dornod Province in eastern Mongolia. Founded in 1931. The soum borders on the east and east of Bayantumen soum, in the south east of Matad, in front of Sukhbaatar soum of Sukhbaatar aimag, Khulenbuir in the west and west of Tsagaan-Ovoo soum.

Teshig is a sum (district) of Bulgan Province in northern Mongolia. Founded in 1931. The water is located in the central part of Mongolia's center, with 771.9 thousand hectares of land and 87% of its forests. 140 km to the Russian Federation and 130 km to Tarialan and Erdenebulgan, Huvsgul aimag, 80 km to Hutag-Undur and to Selo, 77 km to the east.

On the West and South-West Khovd aimag borders with the Peoples Republic of China. Khovd is one of Mongolia's most heterogeneous aimags, with a Khaikh majority and minorities of Khoton , Kazakh , Uriankhai , Zakhchin , Myangad , Uuld , Durvud and Torguud peoples.

It is bordered by 180 km to the east from Bulgan province center, along the border of Zaamar, Erdenesant, Lun, Undurshireet, Tuv province and Dashinchilen soums of Bulgan aimag with distance of 190 km to the west of Ulaanbaatar.
