You state how many swats he/she will get (we go with two but if he does not submit to the spanking more are added). You tell them how many so that they know you are in control and not acting in anger.

Jun 14, 2010 · A spanking, in it's true meaning, is just like the TO. A "pop" is not a true spanking. A true spanking should go like this: Your child disobeys. You calmly take him aside, tell him why he is getting the spanking, and then spank him. Afterward, like the TO, you explain why he got the spanking and make sure he understands. Then it is over.

Jan 15, 2016 · Spanking done correctly isn't abuse. Almost every person on this thread that was anti spanking and was spanked was spanked incorrectly. For those that were spanked correctly they didn't take issue with spanking once in a while. It's my opinion in general people get far too involved in what goes on in others homes.

Oct 13, 2008 · I agree that spanking doesn't relate to the unfinished schoolwork, but I consider the issue NOT to be the work but a rebellious attitude. And I feel that spanking is a very acceptable punishment for that. I think they've tried all kinds of "natural consequences", and it hasn't helped. Drastic behavior requires drastic punishment.

Sep 21, 2020 · I personally hate spanking, but I will do it when the circumstances call for it, because it's the right thing to do. I also was spanked as a child, but never felt abused. honestly I was a strong willed individual that learned how to regulate and control myself due to spankings.

Mar 1, 2005 · When we do spank, we talk to them first and explain what they got in trouble for and that they knew the consequence was spanking. They made the choice to disobey and so they should expect their punishment. After a spanking, we always hug them and tell them that we love them and that we don't want to spank them, but we have to discipline them.

May 6, 2018 · a firm and categoric no. we have too much violence in our societies already. in some countries it is even illegal for parents to spank their kids, and i think this is for good reasons. when one looks at the personal history of criminals, child abusers and such, many of them have been abused by adults as children. violence only spawns more violence and i think we can break that vicious cycle ...

Mar 24, 2011 · I don't think this thread is about people who misuse spanking (beating children, or using spanking as the only form of punishment or spanking in anger, etc) At least that's not the impression I got from the OP. And do think there is a correct way and an incorrect way to incorporate spanking into your parenting toolbox.
