The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 56 independent and equal countries.. It is home to 2.7 billion people, and includes both advanced economies and developing countries. 33 of our members are small states, including many island nations.

Eight countries come together to form the modern Commonwealth. Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom decided to reform their old association into the modern Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth is an association of 56 countries working towards shared goals of prosperity, democracy and peace. The Commonwealth Secretariat is the intergovernmental organisation which co-ordinates and carries out much of the Commonwealth's work, supported by a network of more than 80 organisations.

Commonwealth Peace Prize. The Commonwealth Peace Prize will be awarded to a distinguished peace-builder with a strong track record of faith-based engagement in conflict resolution and promotion of sustainable peace. The prize is organised and delivered by the Khalili Foundation in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat. Nominations close on 17 January 2025.

Samoa is the first Small Island Developing State from the Blue Pacific to host CHOGM.
