I believe that one ramification of this is that third party Zigbee products should now work in Control4. Which would be great news. Can someone explain this...

Jun 6, 2020 · We have the Yale Zigbee locks with physical buttons, and they have all been very reliable and durable. I think the Yale locks with the touchscreens (not the physical buttons) are a little more prone to failure. One other non-C4 related tip -- most of these Zigbee/Z-wave locks have pretty crappy (i.e., easily picked) physical locking mechanisms.

Jan 7, 2019 · Z-Wave vs ZigBee for C4 is more or less a non-issue. C4 isn't going to drop their own stack, whether or not they move or add to ZigBee 3 or not. There's a LOT of security measures in there that are a valuable addition actually, eliminating any and all concerns that have popped up with the safety of zigbee and zwave before they even popped up.

Jan 19, 2025 · I'm guessing the real question is if you can use any zigbee pro dimmer/switch with Control4. The answer is no, just Control4 ones (noting there are 3rd party lighting systems that integrate with C4, but not via zigbee pro, and that there are a handful of c4 specific 3rd party zigbee devices that integrate as well, but again, they are C4 specific.)

Jun 2, 2008 · Yup, that much I knew. But it certainly seems technically feasible for a company to build a device that learns RF codes (or allows you to program them in with dip switches) and responds to IR, Zigbee, serial, TCP/IP or some other code.

Oct 29, 2012 · Question will be if the ZigBee will work directly with Control4, being open is not a guarantee. On top of that, a bulb is more likely to go than a dimmer or switch - and that means more (re)identifying. Unless a 3rd party module allows control over lights assigned to number 1-2-3 etc, but that defeats any advatage of being ZigBee themslves.
