The body of a script state displays a list of all the events used in its nested script graph. By default, new script states are automatically created with the On Enter State, Update and On Exit State events in the graph.

State Graphs are used to create "high-level" logic, like AI behaviours, scene or level structure, or anything that requires the notion of state. For example, an enemy that has a "patrol", "chase" and "attack" states, or a door that has "locked", "unlocked", and "open" states.
