They are $9.97 and extend from 21" to 60", which is perfect for the shooting that I encounter while walking and while sitting. I bought two, one that I originally purchased for me, which my wife found out worked great for her camera and photography and wanted.

Nov 19, 2020 · Let's starts a discussion about how to improve the stability of your tripod or shooting sticks so that you can increase your effective range. Being a Spartan Precision guy, my idea is the Davros head. All you need is something with a 1/4" or 3/8" head. For example, if you have a Primos Trigger Stick, you can screw the Davros onto it.

Nov 22, 2023 · I used a homemade set of shooting sticks for years until I lost them . I added on a small fiberglass rod I slid into a spring. This was screwed onto one of the legs which I should mention were wood. I could go from bipod to tripod in seconds. Man do I miss them. They weighed 1-3/4 pounds. I think my inspiration came from Varmit Al.

Mar 7, 2018 · If you're not shooting past 400 yarde, a light pair of MIdway's Swagger Stalker Lite Shooting Sticks in a sheath on your belt work great, and are very quick to deploy. For longer range, when you usually have more time to deploy, I like a light tripod.

Dec 15, 2024 · These came with a sheath that only covers the top, I'd look for a model that has a full sheath. They also make a tripod version, which is steadier, but takes longer to deploy. I love hiking sticks, but in rocky country, I find it impossible to walk quietly with them. If they're in your pack, it would take too long to deploy them for a quick shot.

Apr 23, 2011 · Standing while shooting has definite advantages as for maneuverability, especially on follow up shots where the target has moved to a different location. And also on steep or otherwise unsuitable terrain, it has definite advantages. But that also requires more than just a camera type tripod.

Jul 30, 2014 · Lugging a tripod around at 8,000+ feet does not sound like fun. But using dual purpose hiking/shooting sticks makes a lot of sense. Hiking/shooting sticks means that when you have a very expensive shooting rig on your back you need those sticks to keep a fall from damaging a scoped rifle and ruining an expensive rig and expensive hunt.

Jun 26, 2016 · The KDC snipepod is fine to shoot off of, similar to shooting sticks I would imagine. I'm looking to step up to a full size tripod for the upcoming season and would like to add a spotting scope to the mix for digiscoping. I practice shooting off my pack now, so would not necessarily plan on shooting from the tripod every time.
