Jul 16, 2009 · There are a couple reasons I'm skeptical about the speaker wire being the culprit. Firstly it's brand new wire and the section I'm using for testing is about 6 feet long. So any shorts should be fairly easy to spot visually. Secondly, I was using the exact same speaker wire and the exact same speakers with an RX-V800 just days before with no issue.

May 8, 2015 · There is no problem with the inside setup but when we switch the system to power the external speakers, if the volume is increased to around the 34db level the amplifier shuts down. On powering it back up the message check SP cable can be seen. I have checked all leads to the speakers and even if they are disconnected the same thing will occur.

Jul 16, 2009 · This could be from a table or chair sitting on the wire, pets, exposed wire at the ends (1/2" maximum), one strand touching from one side to the other or if the wires were hidden in the walls before the drywall went up, a nail or screw.

Apr 14, 2014 · Those speaker wire connectors in the photo of the back of that receiver look like fitting in 12 gauge wire would be difficult. Are trying to fit two 12 gauge wires into one hole so you can bi wire? As a guess, I'd try 16 gauge or smaller. Make sure you find a narrower gauge wire that attaches to the receiver securely.
