The Smiling Gecko Campus, founded in 2014, is located approximately 60 kilometers north-east of the capital Phnom Penh in the Kampong Chhnang province. Around 30,000 people live in the immediate vicinity of the campus, most of whom are supported or sponsored by Smiling Gecko.

Large parts of the rural population live in terrible poverty. Smiling Gecko is at the side of these people. With a sustainable, holistic approach that focuses on imparting knowledge to children and adults. Because education is the only way out of the darkness in rural Cambodia.

Embedded in the Smiling Gecko Campus, the park-like resort is a place of heavenly tranquility where the Smiling Gecko Story can be perfectly experienced. The farmhouse has 24 tastefully furnished rooms spread over 12 bungalows in classic Khmer style and 10 brand new suites.

The central element of the Smiling Gecko commitment in Cambodia is our school and the kindergarten, which opened in 2017 as the “SGC HISF Education Campus”. We started with around 140 children, and today we have almost 470 schoolchildren.

Smiling Gecko is a unique development project in rural Cambodia (www.smilinggecko.ch). As part of the overall project, the Smiling Gecko carpentry started operation in 2016. This operation has created additional jobs and apprenticeships for currently 30 young Cambodians.

But that also drives us at Smiling Gecko. Because we are convinced that with our campus we are creating what this wonderful country deserves most: a future! All Stories
