Sturm provided $50,000 to get the Sturm Ruger Company started. When Alexander Sturm died suddenly of hepatitis in 1951, Bill Ruger changed the logo from red to black.

May 8, 2008 · Interesting. The Mk II is a later version. Ruger emblems when they started out were red. When Ruger's partner, Sturm, passed away, the emblems were changed to black. This was a long time ago, don't exactly remember the date. Are they now back to red, or did someone put an old pair of grips on the Mk. II

Aug 24, 2024 · Then, after Strum died, Bill Ruger changed the color of the logo to black in honor of Sturm's passing. Does anyone know the approximate place in the serial number range where the change was made? I know where there is a Ruger Standard Model for sale which seems to date to 1952 but it is around a two hour one-way drive for me.

Jun 19, 2013 · no ruger medallion but I read somewhere (here?) someone got the medallions - maybe from Ruger...and cut reliefs into the grips and stuck the medallions on. Not the same as the Ruger grips which I agree look great - and appear to have the Ruger logo carved into the wood, not the normal medallions.

Jun 26, 2013 · Mr. Sturm put up the money for Mr. Ruger to open a gun company. Sturm Ruger. Their company logo was this kinda Heraldic eagle. Red. Within the first couple of years Mr. Sturm died. The eagle went into mourning. It turned black. 1999 was the 50th year of Ruger being in business. To celebrate, the Eagle came out of mourning. It is now red, again.

Ruger logo changes
May 28, 2008 · Yep, started it last year. All the Ruger family are out of the business now so the corp. thinking if to streamline the business, delete slow production models, and change the name to just "Ruger". I guess since they figure that's all most people know and call the brand anyway.
