Phytosulfokine (PSK) precursor processing by subtilase SBT3.8 and PSK ...
Jan 20, 2021 · Osmotic stress tolerance was improved in plants overexpressing the PSK1 precursor (proPSK1) or SBT3.8, resulting in higher fresh weight and improved lateral root development in transgenic plants compared with wild-type plants. We further showed that SBT3.8 is involved in the biogenesis of the bioactive PSK peptide.
Phytosulfokine peptides, their receptors, and functions - PMC
Phytosulfokines (PSKs) are a class of disulfated pentapeptides and are regarded as plant peptide hormones. PSK-α, -γ, -δ, and -ϵ are four bioactive PSKs that are reported to have roles in plant growth, development, and immunity. In this review, we summarize recent advances in PSK biosynthesis, signaling, and function.

PSK is a precursor protein that must be sulfonated at both tyrosines by tyrosylprotein subfotransferase (TPST), localized in the Golgi apparatus, and further cleaved by subtilisin-like serine proteases (SBTs) in the cytoplasmic matrix.
Phytosulfokine (PSK) precursor processing by subtilase SBT3.8 and PSK ...
Apr 13, 2021 · The expression of phytosulfokine (PSK) peptide precursor genes, and transcripts of three subtilisin-like serine proteases, SBT1.4, SBT3.7, and SBT3.8, were found to be up-regulated in response to osmotic stress.
Genome-wide analysis of the SBT gene family involved in drought ...
Jan 10, 2023 · This study provides the first comprehensive analysis of the SBT gene family in cotton. Here, 368 SBT genes were detected in four cotton species, including 120 GhSBTs in upland cotton, which underwent tandem and genome-wide duplication during evolution.
Biogenesis of post-translationally modified peptide signals for …
Oct 1, 2022 · Cleavage sites in PMP precursors are recognized by subtilases (SBTs) in a highly specific manner. SBT-mediated processing results in the activation of PMP signals regulating stress-induced flower drop, the formation of the embryonic cuticle, and pollen development.
Signaling Peptides Regulating Abiotic Stress Responses in Plants
Jul 18, 2021 · PSK and subtilases (SBTs), which cleave PSK precursor protein for generating the PSK pentapeptide, play a role in drought stress tolerance in Arabidopsis (Stührwohldt et al., 2021).
Precursor processing by SBT3.8 and phytosulfokine signaling
Oct 22, 2020 · The expression of phytosulfokine (PSK) peptide precursor genes, and transcripts of three subtilisin-like serine proteases, SBT1.4, SBT3.7 and SBT3.8 were found to be up-regulated in response to osmotic stress.
