Nerve growth factor - Wikipedia
Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a neurotrophic factor and neuropeptide primarily involved in the regulation of growth, maintenance, proliferation, and survival of certain target neurons. It is perhaps the prototypical growth factor, in that it was one of the first to be described.
Escherichia coli NGF-1, a Genetically Tractable, Efficiently …
Dec 6, 2018 · The genome of the murine commensal strain Escherichia coli NGF-1 contains a 5.03-Mbp chromosome and plasmids of 40.2 kbp and 8.56 kbp. NGF-1 efficiently colonizes the mouse gut and is genetically tractable.
NGF Gene - GeneCards | NGF Protein | NGF Antibody
Dec 25, 2024 · NGF (Nerve Growth Factor) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with NGF include Neuropathy, Hereditary Sensory And Autonomic, Type V and Hereditary Sensory Neuropathy. Among its related pathways are Apoptotic Pathways in Synovial Fibroblasts and p75 NTR receptor-mediated signalling.
Nerve Growth Factor: A Focus on Neuroscience and Therapy
Nerve growth factor (NGF) is the firstly discovered and best characterized neurotrophic factor, known to play a critical protective role in the development and survival of sympathetic, sensory and forebrain cholinergic neurons.
Nerve growth factor inhibitor - Wikipedia
Nerve growth factor (NGF) inhibitors are a class of compounds that inhibit the action of the neurotrophin nerve growth factor by targeting NGF molecules or NGF receptors. NGF inhibitors have demonstrated therapeutic potential in treatment of certain chronic pain disorders, including osteoarthritis, and chronic lower back pain. [1]
Nerve growth factor: from the early discoveries to the potential ...
Nov 29, 2012 · Nerve growth factor (NGF) is the first discovered member of the neurotrophin family [1]. NGF is essential for the development and phenotypic maintenance of neurons in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and for the functional integrity of cholinergic neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) (Figure 1) [2].

Nerve Growth Factor: Early Studies and Recent Clinical Trials
Since its discovery, nerve growth factor (NGF) has long occupied a critical role in developmental and adult neuro-biology for its many important regulatory functions on the survival, growth and differentiation of nerve cells in the peripheral and central nervous system.
NGF-1 is the Neurospora homologue of the GCN5 histone.
Alignment of Neurospora NGF-1 (NcNGF1) with homologues from S. cerevisiae (ScGcn5), M. grisea (MgGCN5), and G. zeae (GzGCN5). Bold letters indicate identity among proteins.
Reinvigorating drug development around NGF signaling for pain
Feb 17, 2025 · Nerve growth factor (NGF) monoclonal antibodies inhibit chronic pain, yet failed to gain approval due to worsened joint damage in osteoarthritis patients. We report that neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is a coreceptor for NGF and tropomyosin-related kinase A (TrkA) pain signaling. NRP1 was coexpressed with TrkA in human and mouse nociceptors.
