NASA Prepares for Lunar Terrain Vehicle Testing - NASA
Oct 2, 2024 · Crewed test vehicles here on Earth like the GTU help NASA learn new ways that astronauts can live and work safely and productively on the Moon, and one day on the surface of Mars. As vendor designs evolve, the contracted LTV as well as the GTU allow for testing before missions head to the Moon.
NASA brought this concept vehicle to life by building the LTV Ground Test Unit (GTU) as an engineering asset for studying flight vehicle design. The GTU will generate and provide reference data for use across the Artemis architecture working groups and studies.
Revolutionizing Lunar Exploration: Inside NASA’s New Moon Rover
Oct 6, 2024 · NASA is developing a new Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) for the Artemis missions to the Moon, enabling astronauts to explore more expansively and conduct in-depth scientific research. The Ground Test Unit (GTU), a prototype, is being tested on Earth to evaluate different rover concepts and ensure reliability and functionality before deployment.
NASA is developing a Ground Test Unit (GTU). This is not the LTV that will be delivered to the Moon but is instead a pathfinder prototype to help NASA understand the crew and architectural needs of an LTV and to pilot evaluation techniques to be applied to commercial LTV concepts offered in response to the NASA Request for
NASA is developing an LTV Ground Test Unit (GTU) to aid in its development of the Artemis program. The GTU is a concept vehicle that will not go to the Moon itself.
