Jul 2, 2010 · While the OD of the 10mm Auto and .40 S&W allowed it to be shoehorned into the standard 9mm MP5 receiver (barely) the .45 ACP is just too large so everything around it has to grow accordingly. 10mm Auto is the way to go if you don't care about ammo costs.

The MP5 is primarily aimed at police units and first response forces engaging area targets. Easy to handle, easy to control and uncompromisingly precise in an emergency. The MP5 SD, on the other hand, fulfils the weaponry requirements of specialised forces and selected special units.

Dec 23, 2020 · It’s because of the reciprocating mass of the bolt. The bolt on an mp5 weighs 14oz while the bolt on a UMP in 45ACP is 32oz. That’s a significant difference in mass slamming into the rear of the receiver of a lighter firearm.
