With Notepad++, you can show end-of-line characters. It shows CR and LF, instead of "\r" and "\n", but it gets the point across. However, it will still insert the line breaks. But you do get to see the line-ending characters.

Apr 22, 2010 · Consider using Folder as Workspace, suggested by @Antti29 instead (if you can have appropriate Nodepad++ version) - it looks works fine with directories, containing node_modules, bower_components etc. Not so good if you want to be able to browse outside the root of a single project.
