The Copy-Item cmdlet in PowerShell allows you to copy files and directories from one location to another. This cmdlet can handle both local and remote file copying.
Basic Usage
To copy a single file, specify the source path and the destination folder:
Copy-Item -Path "C:\temp\files\example.txt" -Destination "D:\backup\"Copying Multiple Files
You can copy multiple files by separating each file path with a comma:
Copy-Item -Path "C:\temp\files\file1.txt","C:\temp\files\file2.txt" -Destination "D:\backup\"Copying Directories
To copy an entire directory, use the -Recurse parameter:
Copy-Item -Path "C:\temp\files\" -Destination "D:\backup\" -RecurseCopying to Remote Computers
You can also copy files to a remote computer using a PowerShell session:
$Session = New-PSSession -ComputerName "RemotePC" -Credential "User"Copy-Item -Path "C:\local\path\file.txt" -Destination "C:\remote\path\" -ToSession $SessionFiltering Files
Use the -Include and -Exclude parameters to filter which files to copy:
