After all, He knows all about us and knows what is going on inside us—both good and bad. The Bible says that God “judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

God even hears our prayers when we can’t even put them into words–times, for example, when our hearts are too burdened or confused even to speak. The Bible says, “the Spirit helps us in our weakness. God hears the prayers of those who follow Him and do His will (John 9:31). The writers of Scripture made it clear that God was speaking to them and through them. More than 3,000 times they said, “Thus saith the Lord” or its equivalent. Because “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16), we are taught what is right ...

But in the meantime, God commands us to pray for “all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:2). Take time today—and every day—to pray for our nation and its leaders. God is still at work, whether we realize it or not.
