ES-335 fat neck observations - The Gear Page
Nov 29, 2016 · The fat neck profile (.930" 1st and 1.010" 12th) is just great. All my other fave guitars have a chunky neck so this is a very natural transition. Ran it thru my Orange Retro 50 / Scumback H5/H75 loaded 2x12 and the tones were thick, thick , thick and very dynamic.
Gibson ES-335 Fat Neck - The Gear Page
Mar 26, 2012 · That's a misleading blanket statement regarding the fat neck vs. Historic Les Paul. I own one of each and a pair of calipers too and yes, the fat neck is just as fat (I included measurements above). Indeed if you compare the 1st fret depths of most of the post 2009 Historics (see M
Fat neck = better tone than thin neck | The Gear Page
Sep 1, 2014 · When I say fat neck, I mean thick and chunky and more wood to reach around, compared to for example a Fender American Standard Strat. The SRV or Jeff Beck strat necks would be "fatter" in comparison. Average Joe
Gibson ES335 "Fat Neck" - initial report and pics | The Gear Page
Jun 7, 2007 · Got a new Gibson ES335 Fat Neck a couple of days ago and I thought I'd post some initial impressions for those who may be wondering. From an aesthetic point of view, I really think Gibson nailed it on this one. The color is a dark cherry rather than the bright red that many ES335s are, and...
Gibson ES 335 Fat Neck vs. '59 profile - The Gear Page
Aug 1, 2010 · The ES-335 "Fat Neck" - while not a full-on historic reissue - is tailored to be more like a vintage 1959 335 than the current production models. That starts with the thicker, '50s-style neck carve made of mahogany. The Fat Neck also sports a thinner body style that's much closer to the style of a vintage '59 335.
Fralin Allparts Neck vs. Allparts Fat Neck | The Gear Page
Jul 8, 2011 · I have a couple Fralin necks, one Strat, one Tele. I'm pretty sure he takes the Allparts FAT neck and has them v it a little in the 1-7 fret area, mostly on the thumb side. It is more comfortable to me than the standard Allparts FAT neck, more like the neck on the Fender Custom Shop relic nocaster I've got.
2016 Gibson SG Standard - Fat Neck | The Gear Page
Feb 25, 2021 · But what I noticed about this particular guitar is that the neck seems enormous - for an SG it's practically a baseball bat. Reminiscent of my r8. Gibson specs for 2016 say this is the 'rounded' neck profile. In 2017 they go to the 'slim taper' - …
Fat neck=big tone. Myth? - The Gear Page
Apr 1, 2012 · People tend to look at things like this using logic that doesn't apply. For example, in this case people see fat neck as having a fat sound because more meat=more beefy. But looking at it logically you have to consider the fact that the thicker and heavier the neck the less it's going to resonate. Would you want a acoustic with a 1/2" thick top?
So, just how fat is the Allparts FAT neck profile?
Feb 9, 2023 · Love my all parts fat neck. Then again I love baseball necks and just traded away a guitar for being too skinny. Bought mine through 1950’s finishes on reverb and feels great for power chords and most rhythm work.
Guitars with Fat Necks, what do you like? - The Gear Page
Aug 23, 2015 · My 2012 62 Hot Rod is not that fat. I never played any others. I did play a guitar labeled a 62 RI at a GC. It was pretty well used and had a very fat neck so I think it was mislabeled and was an older Hot Rod. Much fatter than mine. FWIW The SG Classics were pretty chunky. And the G&L #1 necks.
