On the first Palm Sunday, Jesus affirmed himself as Messiah by his victorious ride into Jerusalem as the crowds sang his praises. His entrance into Jerusalem on the back of a lowly colt to fulfill the prophetic predictions of his destiny creates an ironic vision.
