Apr 26, 2007 · For the E36 convertible, the designation was "iC" where the C signifies convertible. Thus your car (and mine) is known as a 328iC. The C is not on the rear deck badge however - I guess because it's pretty obviously a convertible. With the E46, BMW started using "Ci" where now the C stands for coupe. Thus a 330Ci is a 2-door coupe model. See:
