
In this proposed system we are using Arduino UNO board. The Arduino is an open source integrated development environment which simplified the coding greatly. The proposed system consists of Ultrasonic sensor for crack detection and IR sensors for obstacle detection. Motor driver L293D is used to drive the DC motors.

The main aim is to automatically detect cracks in railway track using Ultrasonic Sensors which will be attached to the Loco and sends the location of the cracks to the designated receiver using GSM & GPS.
This device includes designing a crack finder robot to discover cracks within the rails. The system uses a controller to interface with the robot automobile and crack detection sensors. The detector detects voltage versions of the crack sensor, then transmits the signal to the microcontroller.
In this we have proposed a proto type of testing train for detecting obstacles and cracks, which is similar to that of line following testing train. The sensors used for obstacle detection are bump sensor, infrared sensor and ultrasonic sensor. Ultrasonic sensor is most suitable for crack detection due to its high ranging capability and low cost.
