Between "The Slap", Scourge's antics, and Archie writers' understanding of romance is probably why if SEGA lifted the romance mandate I would prefer "wholesome, feel good, not strictly hetromantic" romance than "soap opera esqe, r/menwritingwomen approaching" romance.

Her speech before The Slap is a combination of her going along with royal duties as usual and her desire to avoid going through the pain of losing Sonic a second time.
