2024 TCA Convention RBMN Box Cars – Help Me Decide
Dec 20, 2023 · Up until the much lamented redesign and simplification of Lionel's trucks, they came with the standard diecast, sprung, 70-ton, Bettendorf trucks. I don't know which trucks the Standard O cars are currently using. See pp. 60-63 of Lionel's 2023 Big Book for examples.
Who makes the best passenger cars? - Model Train Forum
Aug 29, 2023 · The final step is to replace the lighting boards. Older cars like the 84' lightweights have three incandescent bulbs with no capacitor. Not so good. Most of the recent cars have the same three bulbs but with a capacitor. The capacitor does not help very much because it is too small for the amperage draw of the bulbs.
New Release of Athearn Streamlined Passenger Cars
Mar 7, 2025 · Just to give an idea of what the new above system of coupler is replacing on the Athearn passenger cars….here is the old/existing version…. I think the new couplers will allow the trucks to better negotiate switches and curves without the pressure of the coupler stem on the truck, especially during the pushing/backing in of the passenger ...

Mar 20, 2024 · Years ago Atlas marketed some C&NW passenger cars that came bulb-lighted. You can remove the tops of the cars, unscrew the bulb modules and wire in LED strips, wrapping the wires around the screw threads and screwing the screws back in. Then pushing the car top back on. The C&NW cars used to be common. I used some of them for parts.
Crashing Model Trains and Cars | Model Train Forum
Sep 13, 2023 · Got a kick out of your video. It was funny watching those dinkey cars knock that F3 locomotive off the tracks. In real life, that would be like a 3,000 to 4,000 lb. car hitting a 117 ton locomotive, which of course, wouldn't budge. Very entertaining.

Budget vs Premium product line opinions? | Model Train Forum
Jan 7, 2023 · To preface I am a fairly new modeler of primarily HO scale, although I dabble in N, with a particular focus on passenger trains and locomotives. I was wondering what the general sentiment was regarding buying passenger cars from a more budget-friendly product line vs an expensive one. "You get...

So far I painted a 812, gondola, and covered the 813, cattle and 814, boxcar, even the 810 crane. These are as found. First is the 820 Search Light Car a type 1 from 1931 to 34 with the orange insert.
Walthers Heavyweight passenger cars - Model Train Forum
Mar 31, 2023 · BTW, in my experience, it gets worse with backing more than two of those cars. I don't do it on curves under 30" if I can help it. I don't know about the most modern issue of those cars (mine date to 2005), but their claim on the box that they are good to 24" curves is laughable. Maybe their N-scale stuff is, if they sell it.
