Canon HDR PQ : how to properly convert to Rec709 - Reddit
Jun 30, 2023 · "HDR PQ settings allow the camera to produce HDR images that conform to the PQ specification defined in ITU-R BT.2100 and SMPTE ST.2084." This is a 10 bit video format found in cameras like the R50 / R10. I know C-Log is …
Cyberpunk 2077: Anyone know what in game HDR settings to use …
Dec 10, 2020 · PQ does what you expect regular hdr to do i guess. Set peak luminance roughly according to your HDR certification , mine has HDR600 and has a peak luminance of approx 649 (i tested this with the "increase untill details go away" method, this can differ in some games though but it seems right in this game. i had to set my peak brightness at 629
How to do i handle HDR PQ footage? : r/VideoEditing - Reddit
Sep 11, 2022 · The bigger issue is the conversion from HDR PQ to Rec709 (8 or 10 bit) and that's done best by some sort of color management - either Resolve Color management or Aces. To a certain extent, you can use RCM and say, "I'm in 709" and it'll do large parts of tagged footage automatically for you. They've made this pretty easy for most users.
Log vs HDR PQ recording : r/colorists - Reddit
Sep 2, 2020 · Just got my new Canon R6 and I can either record in C Log or HDR PQ, both 10 bit 4:2:2. I'l grade in Resolve and export for HDR. If Vimeo's conversion is not great I might do a second grade for SDR. I have never worked with HDR PQ footage and I'm kind of new to grading, should I record in C Log or HDR PQ and what is the advantage of each option?
LUTs for HDR PQ : r/colorists - Reddit
Apr 11, 2021 · In fact P3 D65 PQ (st2084) is the standard for Dolby Vision HDR. You are absolutely correct, PQ is gamma, not gamut, and does not obligate Rec. 2020. My point of reference is only from delivering HDR to YouTube, which specifies Rec. 2020 primaries with PQ gamma @ 1000 nits reference (or HLG).
Should I use HDR PQ all of the time on the Canon R50? : r/canon
Nov 8, 2023 · I'm new to color grading and the R50 has an HDR PQ mode, which is sorta like LOG but with HDR slapped on top. Since it's 10bit 4:2:2, I feel like this would be the go-to option. I want as much manual control in post production as possible. Is …
A Brief Guide to Cyberpunk 2077s HDR Settings : …
Apr 6, 2021 · A few months back, I finally picked up my first 4k HDR monitor. Like most people, I turned to well-intentioned guides for configuring HDR in Cyberpunk 2077; also like most people, I used settings which were wrong for my device/display, felt that the colors were too washed out, and went back to SDR for some time.
I'm struggling with Canon's RAW HDR PQ format : r/canon - Reddit
May 23, 2023 · It likely supports PQ as well. HDR PQ is the correct mode to shoot in HDR. The older HDR with multiple exposures is obsolete fake HDR. This does not explain why the RAW files are different though. The Nikon Z8 also alters the RAW file when HDR is enabled. I expect the PQ EOTF to be applied only to the HEIF file and the RAW to remain the same.
Should I use HDR PQ mode all of the time on the Canon R50?
Nov 8, 2023 · I would ask what are you delivering to and is it SDR / HDR. I personally don’t feel HDR PQ on capture is good enough w 10bit 4:2:2 but thats just my opinion. The camera is doing quite a bit to make a “pleasant” looking HDR image intended for displays, which unfortunately isn’t what you want when prepping an image for post adjustment.
HDR PQ or not : r/AskPhotography - Reddit
Jan 6, 2024 · PQ is not something that can be explained in a reddit post, not for free anyway. Why not? Think of it as a gamma curve. Here's a relevant snippet taken from the free internet: The purpose of PQ is to assign more of the bits in a 10-bit or 12-bit file to the shadows where the eye is most sensitive to changes in brightness.
