Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been handed a seven-game ban and a £100,000 fine by the English Football Association for using abusive language and bringing the game into disrepute during an interview on Uruguayan TV.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been given a seven-match and a £100,000 fine by the FA after he made a racist remark about Tottenham teammate Son Heung-min. The Football Association first charged Bentancur in September after suggesting that all people from South Korea ‘looked the same’ during an TV interview in June.

The English Football Association said in a statement that an independent commission also imposed a £100,000 ($126,000) fine on the player.
