PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has been preparing for potential violence and protests for months ahead of Tuesday night’s election, and they won’t be alone. Voters likely won’t know the results of many races until the next couple of days for final counts to be tallied.

With just hours until initial election results are revealed, Portland law enforcement is once again addressing concerns of potential civil unrest. On Tuesday at 11 a.m., Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day is speaking at a press conference about Election Day safety precautions.

Election Day is just one day away and authorities in the District are making sure they are prepared. Several gates went up around Lafayette Square in Northwest D.C. The security fences were placed around the perimeter of the White House.
