Officials say the shooting happened after a resident claimed a man was trying to run through their house with the front-end loader and was destroying vehicles in their driveway.

GARLAND (WGME) – A Central Maine man is accused of stealing a large front-end loader in Garland. Police say he attempted to drive it into a home, destroyed vehicles with it and was apparently shot by the homeowner.

A Corinna man allegedly stole a front-end loader and attempted to drive it through a home before being shot by its residents.

SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) – A man was seriously injured, and another is in custody, as police investigate a shooting in South Portland. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 616 Westbrook Street in the Redbank neighborhood around 4 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the leg.

One of two people wanted in connection with a shooting near the Maine Mall last month was arrested Tuesday night.
