Tourists visiting the picturesque and upscale Italian resort area can now take home a unique souvenir — canned air.

The “luxurious souvenir” is the brainchild of Italian communications firm ItalyComunica, which bills the gimmicky keepsake as “perfect for those who wish to rediscover the peace and elegance of this heavenly corner, sealed in a tin.”

For tourists returning from vacation, a camera roll full of photos and a suitcase bursting with souvenirs are usually the closest they can come to bringing a piece of their holiday destination home with them.

Empty cans containing air from Lake Como are being flogged to gullible tourists for £8.40 (€10) a pop. The sealed 400ml containers are being sold at a bookshop and a restaurant on the lake, as well as in Menaggio and Lenno,
