Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young joined the K&C Masterpiece to discuss some of the team’s plans for the offseason, including a potential return for the club’s biggest free agent, starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.

Run it back, part two. The Texas Rangers expect to retain their existing coaching staff for the 2025 season, President of Baseball Operations Chris Young said Tuesday. Young acknowledged that other organizations could pursue members of the Rangers’ staff to fill vacancies and that Texas “may shift slightly some minor roles and responsibilities.

When the Texas Rangers signed Nathan Eovaldi to a two-year, $34 million contract, there was also the inclusion of a $20 million vesting option for a third season. The option vests if Eovaldi throws a combined 300 innings in 2023 and 2024.

The Texas Rangers struggled offensively in 2024 and the club's management expects rebound years for more than half the starting lineup.

With payroll likely to drop and a plethora of holes to fill on the roster, the Rangers will have their work cut out for them this winter.
