The smallest patients at D.C.'s Children's National Hospital got some special Christmas outfits for their first holiday, and the resulting photoshoot would make anyone's heart grow three sizes.

The visit continued an 81-year annual tradition, dating to first lady Bess Truman, of presidents’ wives bringing holiday cheer to children who are too ill to be at home on Christmas.

While the big man in red made his way across Connecticut, for those boys and girls who weren’t home for the holidays, but in the hospital, Santa visited them with a little help from Connecticut Children’s Hospital.
