It’s not Sonic Mania 2, but Sega is making a new 2D game with 3D visuals, four playable characters, and a classic villain not seen in years.

Code Shifter feels like a game that could have had potential. 2D versions of famous characters people love! They can all fight together in a Super Smash Bros. -ish game! But the execution is all off.

There’s plenty of 2D side-scrolling Super Mario fun to be had on Switch already, including New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (a collection of two Wii-era side-scrollers) and Super Mario Maker 2.

It’s a 2D fighting game featuring characters from the popular Dragon Ball series of anime and manga. It will feature 3-vs.-3 fights, and it’s coming out early 2018.
