Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle had a lot to say following Governor Kay Ivey’s 8th State of the state speech Tuesday night.

Gov. Ivey recalled her personal experience as a teacher saying that students cannot perform at their best when their learning environment is cluttered with distractions.

Ivey gave the 30-minute televised speech to a joint session of the Alabama House and Senate and others who greeted the governor with applause and cheers as she entered the old House chamber in the Capitol with a smile and a thumbs-up.
