It's exactly 20 years since Kratos first slashed his way through a 'God of War' adventure. And what a debut that was!

The first "God of War" game was released in 2005 for the Sony Playstation 2, which sees the hero Kratos ultimately kill Ares, the Greek god of war, and replace him in the pantheon of Olympus.

The prequel takes place six months after the events that became the catalyst for the series, when Kratos was tricked into killing his wife and daughter by his master, the God of War Ares.
