BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said the Indian government will take a final call on whether the national cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year.

Pakistan are scheduled to host the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9. But as has been the case for the past 16 years, India have refused to travel to the neighbouring country for the tournament with constant political upheavals between the two nations.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla stated that the Indian government will decide if the national cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year. The tournament is scheduled from February 19 to March 9.

India and Pakistan only play each other in ICC events. India have not travelled to Pakistan for bilateral cricket since 2008 due to the Mumbai terror attacks in which over 150 people were killed. Pakistan were in India for the ODI World Cup last year after a gap of seven years.

Reiterating a long-held position, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Monday said a decision on whether the national cricket team will travel to Pakistan for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy will depend on government approval.
