The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has completed critical track work on the Orange Line, lifting nine speed restrictions.

“That will be the first time the Orange Line is restriction free in 15 years,” MBTA General Manager Phil Eng said during an appearance at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.

Twenty speed restrictions on the MBTA's Orange Line were removed after successful completion of critical track work, officials said Wednesday. This month's service suspension from Forest Hills to North Station allowed crews to get tracks into a state of good repair, the MBTA said.
