The National Transportation Safety Board issued urgent safety recommendations to Boeing over a steering defect related to its 737 planes, adding its growing list of woes.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it had found a defective part in the system that helps steer the aircraft after investigating an incident at Newark airport.

The FAA said United is the only U.S. airline that had the affected parts, though its "understanding" is they are no longer in use.

The National Transportation Safety Board issued urgent recommendations for about 350 Boeing 737 jets globally.
