A person is dead and three people are injured after a pickup truck struck three dirt bikes in Voluntown Monday, state police said. The crash happened around 7:33 p.m. in the area of Ekonk Hill Road on Route 49,

Samuel Joseph Farthing, 42, of Eden, died after the crash. Timothy Glenn Foster, 40, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, authorities said

Foster suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was flown to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. This collision is still under investigation. Round House Road near Friendly Road was closed for three hours during the investigation. Troopers cleared the scene at 10:14 p.m.
