Former talk show host and pop culture icon Wendy Williams has been transferred from her assisted living facility to a hospital after the NYPD performed a wellness check amid growing calls to #FreeWendy.

TMZ writes she was at the hospital for an "independent examination as to whether her cognitive functions are sufficiently intact."

Wendy Williams was hospitalized earlier this week after reportedly dropping a handwritten plea for help from her window. According to the New York Police Department, officers conducted a welfare check at her New York assisted living facility on Monday, March 10, following concerns for her safety.
