A 4.6 magnitude earthquake happened at 5:18 a.m. MT, about 36 miles south of Whites City, New Mexico, while two others hit nearby on Tuesday morning.

A 4.6-magnitude earthquake sent ripples that could be felt Tuesday morning in New Mexico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The magnitude 5 tremor was reported at about 10:30 p.m. by the U.S. Geological Survey about 32 miles northwest of Toyah, Texas.

Four earthquakes have hit Texas in a span of 12 hours this week. The United States has been hit by several notable earthquakes over the past couple of months. Northern California was hit by a major earthquake in late 2024.
