Dark Gaia, Metal Sonic ... a character from the Archie Sonic comics, is a member of Black Doom's army who was created for the sole purpose of being their own version of Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic and Shadow face off against Metal Sonics in Issue 159 ... but it feels like the Archie Comics designers went as far as they could for this one, without it being too gory or scary.
