McDonald's said it will revise a program that awards scholarships to Latino and Hispanic students to eliminate any eligibility criteria based on applicants' race or ethnicity, to settle a lawsuit by a group opposed to affirmative action.

McDonald's has been making the headlines time and again. Between new releases and collaborations, the global food chain has also been in the middle of controversies.

The fast food giant agreed to drop a requirement that at least one of an applicant’s parents be of Latino or Hispanic heritage.

McDonald’s Corp. is settling a lawsuit alleging that a college scholarship program aimed at people of Latino origin is discriminatory by changing some of the criteria to qualify, with the burger chain saying the adjustments were needed to preserve the initiative.
