Air India plane, flight AI171, bound for London with 244 people onboard, crashed as it took off from Ahmedabad airport.

Air India said the Gatwick Airport-bound flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew when it crashed Thursday in India's northwestern city of Ahmedabad.
